                                                                 HAROLD WALTER JAMES IRELAND

 Dear Members & Friends,

It is with great sadness I convey the sad news that Harold Ireland passed away at the age of 94 last Sunday.
Harold together with his wife Phyllis and their family have connections that have run deep amongst our membership and our club.
He was chipper to the last and looked like coming home from hospital after a recent fall which mended, but as happens, things took a turn for the worst.

His family request that their privacy be respected at this time of great loss and grief.
There will not be a formal funeral in the traditional sense, but I am pleased to advise the family are planning a CELEBRATION OF HAROLD’S LIFE, expected to occur in the second half of October.

Phyllis and Harold enjoyed 71 years of marriage, and my best wishes have been extended to her through the family on behalf of you all.
Harold’s sage council, dry humour, stories and helpful guidance will be fondly remembered and missed by many.

Studebaker Car Club of Queensland held its State Meet on Sunday 4th October at Old Petrie Town, bright blue sky with pleasant temperature added to a delightful day for the Meet.  There was a wide selection of Studebakers on show for all to peruse. Thank you to all involved in the making of the day.

Trophies for the meet were Top Car – Athol Lubbe – Hawk, Kyle Barratt – President’s Choice – Wagonaire.

Trophies for Top 10 Cars were presented to: Gordon Thallon, Jim McKinnon, Jim Dack, Matt Pettigrew, John Cosgrove, Ross Oldman, Phil Copelin, George Udovicich, Michael Black, Wayne Szepanowski. 

Congratulations to the winners!  Lucky Door Prizes were won by Rob Fletcher and Gordon Thallon.  

SCCQ members drove their Studebakers to Laidley for the Spring Fair to celebrate International Drive Your Studebaker Day. 4 GT Hawks, 1 Champ and 1 Thunderbird. New SCCQ member Ted travelled from Gatton for the meet up.

SCCQ Club Members celebrated American Independence Day on 4th July, 2026 at the Vintage & Veterans Clubrooms, Carindale. This Day marks the United States of America Semi quincentennial Birthday and the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. A BBQ lunch and the wonderful warm winter weather was enjoyed by all.  Club President Jim displayed his Dorsett Ski Boat styled by Raymond Loewy.

SCCQ & the Newcastle Studebaker Car Club displayed their Studebakers on the streets of Coolangatta at the ‘Cooly Rocks On’ Festival held on 3rd to 7th June 2026.

Club Meetings start at 7.00pm every 3rd Tuesday of the month.  Click on Club Business to sight Agenda for each meeting. Club minutes will be listed as close as possible after the meeting, also listed in Club Business. The next monthly Club Meeting will be held on Tuesday 20th October, 2026 at the Club Rooms, 1376 Old Cleveland Road, Carindale.
