SCCQ 2023 Show & Shine – with Perpetual Trophy for Top Car
Sunday 1st October 2023.
The committee has decided to hold our annual Show & Shine event at Old Petrie Town this year. The last two years have been very successful and Old Petrie Town management have been very accommodating.
This date has been selected because it coincides with Wheels through Time, which is a Steam Day. Old Petrie Town will be busy, given that the markets will be on as well. Hopefully our exposure to the public will be maximized.
Location: Old Petrie Town, 901 Dayboro Rd, Whiteside QLD 4503https://oldpetrietown.com/

- A Pre-booking will have been made at the hotel based on our best estimate of numbers attending. The hotel will be notified of actual numbers prior to 9.30am. This will ensure that our members do not miss out, as the hotel does get very busy.
- This year the club would like to see the older cars which do not normally attend make an appearance. The venue is reasonably centrally located, and travel distances should not be a deterrent for attendance. Members of the public who are attending the Wheels Through Time event are also likely to be interested in our Studebakers, especially the older cars.

A new initiative started a couple of months ago where a member attending our monthly meeting presents on a topic that they believe will be of interest to the other members.

Ross Oldman delivered a very entertaining talk at the August meeting on his time at the Ok Tedi mine in the highlands of PNG. A great film of the mine let you really appreciate the difficulties of the location on top of the mountains.
A more detailed summary will appear in the meeting minutes.

Congratulations to Bill Beverly, the Raffle winner from the August Club Meeting. Bill won a Studebaker Sample Bag full of goodies as it was EKKA time in Brisbane.
SCCQ displayed their Studebakers this year at “Cooly Rocks On”. A Club trophy was presented for the best Studebaker on display. An independent judge selected Jim McKinnon’s 1960 Hawk. Congratulations to Jim.
